The record
Two halves of a career
Saqib Khan practised as a solicitor for nineteen years and then sat as a county court judge. A solicitor sees a file while it still looks defensible, a judge after somebody has to account for it.
Most of what goes wrong in a small firm is not incompetence. It is a date nobody entered, a letter nobody answered, a file nobody senior read for months.
What the record changed
Three decisions came from the bench.
The software watches for drift
A supervising partner with a full caseload cannot read every file of every junior. What reaches court months later comes out of that gap.
The standing report
Drifting files show as a standing report: no activity for weeks, a letter unanswered, a date with no step taken.
Playbooks for seven in the evening
The office has emptied, a limitation point will not wait, and the person holding the file has no guidance.
Where the guidance comes from
Playbooks designed by a former county court judge, matched to the matter in hand. The firm sets where a matter escalates, and every escalation is logged.
Nothing leaves without a name
A judge watches responsibility become unclear afterwards, never at the moment it matters.
Who signs, and what is logged
The software drafts and a qualified fee earner signs, on every output. Every action sits in an audit trail you can produce to an insurer or a regulator.

Where the name comes from
Bracton Ltd is registered in England and Wales, at Arden Hall, Brooklands Road, Sale, M33 3SJ. It builds The platform and the Bracton AI Assistant, sold on its own to firms a contract keeps where they are.
Henry de Bracton himself
His treatise, De Legibus et Consuetudinibus Angliae, gathered the decisions of the English courts into order.
